Spring Has Sprung!

I love this time of year! Everything is starting to green up again, the wildflowers and fruit trees are blossoming. The sun is warm, the breeze is cool, and on the nearby farms, calves are frolicking about and discovering their new world. Rabbits dash across the yard, trying to woo a mate, and birdsong fills the air. Dreary skies give way to blue, and the urge to get outside, to work in the yard and tend the flower beds, is irresistible.

I’m not that great at keeping up on weeding and such, but every year, without fail, the beginning of spring makes me want to get outside and get my hands in the dirt. Trim the old canes off the rose bushes. See how far outside the original perimeter my Daylilies have spread. Checking the apple and mulberry trees, the dewberry vines and sand plum bushes for blossoms, and wondering how much fruit they will produce this year.

Ah, the joys of country life!
