That Girl – By Leslie DJ – Book Tour
I’m pleased to welcome you all to my stop on the book tour for That Girl by Leslie DJ. Today I’ll be sharing my review of this delightful book.
Stacey Melendez doesn’t believe in marriage. It’s 2008 and she’s perfectly content being a single 28-year-old Latina living in Manhattan with her best friend and roommate Lin. She doesn’t mind dating handsome unreliable men. But when Lin suddenly announces she’s getting married Stacey is forced to reevaluate her love life and living situation. Stacey must learn to live on her own and find love within herself in order for anyone else to love her in return.
28-year-old Stacey Melendez is single, not-so-lucky in love, and working as an unappreciated temp at a New York publishing house, Writer’s Wrights. When her best friend announces her engagement, Stacey is less than thrilled, but agrees to be in the wedding. Once Stacey’s mother hears about Lin’s upcoming wedding, she laments ever being able to plan her own daughter’s wedding festivities, which makes their already tense relationship even more strained.
A chance meeting sparks a new relationship, and Stacey is all caught up in the first blush of romance, but her life is far from rosy. Stacey finds herself in conflict with her mother, her friends, and her co-workers just as she’s decided to go after what she wants most in life. Stacey is about to learn that things aren’t always what they seem, and sometimes, not getting what you want is the best thing that could ever happen to you.
That Girl is a light-hearted read filled with memorable characters and no shortage of humorous moments. I love reading books that make me laugh, and this book tickled my funny bone regularly. It was a nice change from the more dramatic fare I usually tend to read.
The ending was written in such a way that it would easily be possible for another book continuing Stacey’s adventures. I have no idea if the author is planning to do so or not, but I, for one, would love to read more about Stacey!
